The study of Exodus beginning with Chapter 2
Lisa explained that in Exodus, we will see examples of foreshadowing. Look for parallels, too.

There will be a "flight" prior to a "comeback similiar to Jacob's life events. Repetative themes are termed as "motifs". One was the beating of a Hebrew by an Egyptian. The same verb for strike is used again later in the story of the plague.
In Exodus, 2:12, God will do the striking down of the bad people.
Moses goes east and later all the Jews will go east. There are no accidental happenings here. Everything has meaning.
In Exodus 2:17, watering of the flock is important as well as the parallel of Rachel securing water at the well.
In Exodus 2:19, we learn of Moses living up to his name. The word Moses means "drawn from water".This is a recurring theme in the Bible.  Moses' wife, Zipporah, rescues Moses in the night with a flint. She is fiercely loyal.
Another important woman in Exodus is Miriam, Moses' sister. She played drums, sang songs and danced. She was like a female prophet. Water, too, is important in her life. The name Miriam is the Hebrew name for the Greek name "Mary". She was a bossy woman. When she died, all the wells dried up. Water is definitely a recurring theme as we will see.
