Weekly Events at St. Thomas

Hello Everyone,

Here’s your weekly reminder of all the programs, services and events at St. Thomas during the next several days.  Please take particular notice of all events in colored print.

CAMP ABLE VBS OUTREACH

Throughout the month of July we will be collecting funds for Camp Able.  This is a program we have worked with in the past and it is a wonderful cause.  Camp Able is a summer camp specially designed for physically and mentally challenged children.  It is an outreach of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Marco Island, FL.  There will be a designated area in each worship area to make donations or you may send a check directly to the church office marked for Camp Able.  Our goal is $350.00 which will sponsor one camper for a one week session.

TWO MISSIONS TRIPS TO HAITI

St. Thomas will be sponsoring two mission trips to Haiti in 2013.  You must be an adult to participate.  We will have a service project trip March 16—23 and a medical mission trip April 13—20.   If you are interested in participating please place your name on the sign up sheets this Sunday or call the church office and sign-up.

  • We will meet very briefly and pray then head off to assignments at 8:45.
  • We will begin with Day 1 - True Peace
  • There is the option of adding Saturday and ending on Sunday.  Please let me know your availability and we will make the decision by the end of the day tomorrow
To our families: Registration opens at 8:45.  See you then!

No Supper Song & Prayer Wed 6-27-12

Now there are air conditioner issues at church, and as the only certainty with Tropical Storm Debby continues to be uncertainity, and as our speaker would prefer not to deal with the water issues that continue to plague Snell Isle, I've decided it's best to err on the side of safety and cancel SSP for tomorrow evening.  Blessings, Lisa
P.S. Stay tuned for VBS update...

No Men's Bible Study or Noon Eucharist Wed 6-27-12

Stay Home & Stay Safe!  Stay tuned for VBS and Supper, Song & Prayer announcements.  Power has been restored, but travel on and around Snell Isle remains trecherous.  Wind is preventing water from receding.  Thanks to Karolyn & Walt Jaap and Ted Steinwender for cleaning out fridge & freezer & generally checking on buildings and grounds during Tropical Storm Debby. Our new bridge is passing this test with flying colors.  I'm camping out at Barbara Suhar's and remain available at 203-820-6747.

So quiet at St. Thomas

Greetings All
Looks like another quiet day at home.  The church is also quiet.  Not exactly what we were all hoping for today.  I have to send out many thanks to all who have been checking in and supporting the effort. I can certainly feel the St. Thomas love.  Prayer go out all those dealing with flood, damage and electricity outage. I know you're out there.  If you need something I am glad to post for you.  Just keep texting.  Remember we're a community and we want to help.

To those who have worked so hard to prepare for V.B.S - YOU ROCK!  Keep the faith, we'll get it done somehow.

Will check back in when there is more news.
Peace,
Elaine

No Electricity=No VBS & Office closed Tues 6/26

Sorry to bear bad news, but there's no power at the church as of this morning, Tuesday, June 26.  No Vacation Bible School today, and office will be closed.  In case of pastoral emergency, call Rev. Lisa at 203-820-6747.  We're fortunate that the only "gifts" Tropical Storm Debby has brought to St. Thomas are in the form of tree debris.  Many thanks to God and all God's helpers for our new roof.  Stay safe!
